Re: TrickFlow LT1 Cylinder Heads

Sorry about not giving you guys updates, but we've been working on alot more than just this particular app, including a forced induction specific version etc.

Eric (Camaro97USAF) - will be nice to see what the heads will do in a normal app. without things being so far from optimum (i.e. less than stock compression). Can't wait to see what the car'll do with the minor issues sorted out and a normal compression range

Tripin - 325cfm is possible, but really, we have to say again and again and again, flow numbers are nearly irrelevant, and buying a head based on flow numbers is not a good idea. That's sort of what MG/chrism400/steve are probably getting at, 1. flow numbers tell you guys absolutely nothing considering you dont know the actual dimensions/shape of the port, and 2. there's a great deal more to developing a winning combination than shooting for high flow numbers. I'm also not talking about peak numbers either, there are instances where area under the flow curve may hurt performance, which makes choosing heads based on flow numbers even more treacherous for a consumer IMO. Your best bet is almost always to forget about alot of the claims you see in regards to simple steady state test results, because that simply isn't the world we're racing in. On the internet the higher flow numbers always make more power, but at the track it just isn't so

Steve - faster & faster, that's the little lt1 that could

MG - Yes & no. You'd have to define what characteristic would be favorable . We do quite a bit of adjusting ports & chambers utilizing our swirl meter & pitot tubes, & whatever motion we try to impart into the intake charge is just as important as a flow number. Of course you know that, what I'm getting at is that there's alot of differing opinions on what works best in regards to whatever sort of motion you're looking for. Some guys want all the swirl they can get, some want a lot here, none there etc. What seems to work with our port designs I'm obviously not going to quantify publically, but I do feel we're seeing improvements in combustion efficiency based on some of the tests we've done. There's also obviously applications where X characteristic is more or less favorable than others, which is why we're not rushing something into production just yet. Of course we're still hand-porting TFS castings & this is in regards to what we'll end up offering for our CNC'd TFS based offerings.

Matt,
Send them an email, they don't post as often as they check their email. That post by Ron is from March 30th, so not very recent.
