Smile TrickFlow LT1 Cylinder Heads

Hey guys,

After hearing a fair amount about the newer offerings from Edelbrock and Trick Flow we decided to do some research on the products & see what we could find out. Primarily we were searching for an alternative to the expensive GM LT4 castings that would end up cheaper than porting most other bare castings.

At any rate, we'll have a set of the bare TrickFlow LT1 offering in a few weeks & will post flow #'s with a standard 3angle valve job applied for those wondering about what they'll do out of the box.

Beyond that, we don't need them sitting around, so if anyone is interested in a fully ported head that should at least be capable of LT4 range #'s for a few hundred $ less & with no 3mo. wait for castings... we're looking for someone interested in giving them a try. I think someone looking for a "normal" hydraulic roller LT1 setup with a 350-383 would be ideal.

Either way we'll post how they are.

For those interested, feel free to email me, but please give me a few days to get back to you. I had my main (new actually, what luck) hard drive die the other day so I've lost many emails from the past 3 weeks or so. If you inquired about anything but I hadn't been able to respond yet, please re-send if you don't mind

Thanks!

Thumbs up

Good deal! I've been very curious about the Trick Flow LT1 castings and can't wait to see the out of the box #'s.
Are you guys going to test the Edelbrock heads as well?

I was wondering when a shop was going to get a set of these heads and flow them. I am looking into a set of these, but was hoping to see some before and after flow numbers first. SOunds like Phil will be the man to give them to us

I'm very interested in a set of these heads that have been ported and the bowl enlarged a bit to help me lower my compression. I'm hoping between larger cc and thick gasket I can drop compression from 11 to high 9's. If that's the case then it will be time for a small roots blower on my 396.

Of course if that doesn't work out I could always just swap out pistons and go for it.

Would be a at least a year a way but the research will help me decide a course of action.

I'd definately be willing to give them a try! I've got fully ported stock castings right now and have access to a dyno, so I'd be able to post before and after #s.

The main value of these is the lower compression possible. I'd be interested to see what they cc at and it would be interesting to see "how low they'd go..."

Just a quick note...

Heads arrived today, but I'm heading out of town until the 6th or 7th of July & won't have time to do anything with them. They look like a nice piece & I expect we'll see some pretty good #'s out of them. Shortly after I get back I'll do some testing with them.

Thanks!

We built a SBC 385 Stroker with Trick Flows, theres potential in them. I would like to see what that potential is on a LTX Trick flow heads. I want to see the power it makes over a similar GM casted head.

Ohhh you dirty bastage . How can you go out o town with new toys layin around... I'm interested in how these turn out as I'll be needing some new heads with bigger combustion chambers when I build my FI motor. BTW, what is the intake runner size on those.
