Re: TrickFlow LT1 Cylinder Heads

Just an update...

I had a moment yesterday evening to speak with TFS about the thin spots I found, and it's refreshing how concerned they actually were. I'm told they should be MUCH thicker, so perhaps we were sent an earlier pre-pro casting or something along those lines. If this is the case, and they aren't thin anywhere, then this will probably end up being a great choice for guys with a little more displacement or boost. Hopefully this will allow us to safely push them beyond what GM LT4's will do with similar wall thicknesses. We will know soon, as they told us to do whatever with the casting to figure out where any thin spots are & they'll cut up a couple castings themselves to ensure sufficient wall thickness everywhere

I'm still not 100% sure just how small I can get the chambers, but they should work fairly well for 383's, guys who need a little more chamber volume, and possibly a normal 355 rebuild. I'll figure that out when I find a few moments to spare on it

Since there was a request in the GP section, we'll likely do a GP on all TFS' products in the near future. We're currently working up pricing, but it may take a couple days until we can sit down and finalize something. We've got alot of things coming up this winter, so it's pretty hectic around here

If anyone is actually interested in a GP on TFS' products and/or packages based on their bare castings, then here's the thread: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285952

We're trying to gauge interest on this

Thanks guys!

IF you can safely get 300+ CFM out of them I will be ready to buy a bare set in about a week or so. Im hoping 325 CFM is possible, but if not they are a great deal compaired to the AFR heads. AFR overcharges in my opinion.

Hey Phil,

Just out of curiosity, have you checked the regular SBC head castings that the LT1 versions are supposed to be based on to see if they are thin as well? Trick Flow may want to check those as well.

Re: TrickFlow LT1 Cylinder Heads

So, besides the airflow talk... is there anything special about the TFS heads? More swirl, less swirl? Improvements to port shape vs the LT1? Improvements to combustion chamber vs LT1?

I can look at flow charts and see airflow... anyone have a dyno comparison?

Any updates on these heads? I'm considering a set for my 383 buildup.

Re: TrickFlow LT1 Cylinder Heads

A friend of mine is building a 383 for a impala ss and got a set of the TF heads for it and will be flowing them before and after porting. I'll post the info as soon as it becomes available.

Everybody thinks they need 300 cfm heads to make power.

Re: TrickFlow LT1 Cylinder Heads

For what its worth my heads flow in the range of 275-280, I can only dream of the power I could make on a set of heads that flow in the range of 300-320 cfm. They tell me my heads are only good for 550 hp, but the dream wheel tells me 660hp, lol

Home ported iron heads with 1.94 valves, HR 501 cam, 52 mm tb, LT's, 30# injectors, cast crank, 2 bolt mains, gigantic car 3900 + with driver. Check out this thread to see how he ran 11's in a Caprice. Imagine this engine in a 3500 lb Camaro! http://impalassforum.com/noncgi/ulti...c;f=1;t=008816
