trickflow heads and 224/230 xe
hey whats up everybody im getting ready to install my cam but now im thinking about getting heads at the same time...im a newbie when i comes to heads so i need some help in choosing a pair...i was checking out these tf heads heres the specs 195 cc intake ports 75 cc exhaust ports and 62 combustion chambers...i plan on useing a lil shot of juice later after i get more funds after this project...are those heads to small or big???what heads do you think i should go with??thanks for the help
Re: trickflow heads and 224/230 xe
I am running that cam as well...wish I would have done heads at the same time but fund limited didn't allow it.I looked into the Trickflow's. IMO they are not what YOU want. I say this because they will lower yor engines compession being a 62cc chamber. They are intended for big cubic inch motors and forced induction systems ( not a small shot ). I think heads are good choice at this time for you....the XE224/230 is suppose to really wake up with the addition of head work. I am going with the LE1 or LE2's ( Lloyd Elliot ) and would suggest the same....if money is no object AFR's is a good choice as well.

yea i did a more detailed search on the site and found out they are not the heads for me...ive got around a 1000 to spend on a bare set of heads ....which heads should i go with??thanks for the input it helped me relize these arnt the heads for my car
Re: trickflow heads and 224/230 xe
At the risk of stating the obvious, you do know what a "bare set of heads" is, right? That's heads without ANYTHING bolted to them. To be ready to use, you will need valves (and a valve job), valve springs, locks and retainers, valve seals, shims and seats, guideplates, rocker studs and rockers. So, $1,000 can easily turn into $2,000. Just wanted to be sure everyone was on the same page here.

good point Rich.
Most peopolke realize that bare doesn't come with any hard ware but most do not know that there are more needed to get them ready to run.
honing guides, machining seats, milling heads, etc, etc,
The TFS heads have descnt shaped port when purchased "bare" but the AFR heads are TINY, TINY, TINY and anyone planning on installing some "bare" AFR's with no prt work will be horrified when they pull teh heads from the box and see what they ook like is stock form.
