It gets rid of the silence tube that the factory elbow has on it. But I would just get a 1LE intake elbow, it's a bit cheaper and works just as well.

Yeah but i can get the trick flow one for 79.95$ free shipping so for the difference of 10$ i will take the chrome one.

Whats the benefit of getting rid of the silencer?More flow?

Its not chrome its ceramic coating I imagine that the silencer tube caused some turbulence to the air.

I have the trick flow elbow... the power gain you recieve from it rather than stock can be compared to taking the screen out of your mass air meter...nothing lol... It does eliminate the res. tube but you will feel no difference... other than that, its a really easy install and makes me LT1 look "pretty" haha - good luck

I went with the 1LE elbow because I prefer the stock look and rubber dosn't hold and transfer heat as well as metal.

Yeah, if you do get a Trickflow, just make sure it's the ceramic one.

Where are you seeing the 1LE intake elbow for $69??? i think i picked mine up from GMPartsDepot.com for $40 + shipping. Definitely better than 80 bucks. Also i like the rubber look better, looks more stock and the same goes for me about heat transfer... rubber is better.

Obviously the ceramic coating is better than mild steel for reducing heat transfer, anyone have an idea how the ceramic coated stuff would perform compared to aluminum since that is so often used in intakes?

You can get a 1LE elbow pretty cheap and its not really a performance mod.

Re: Trick Flow Intake Elbow

A hard intake elbow is EXTERMELY nice for nitrous applications. If you have a back fire, you won't end up buying two elbows. They are also nice for mounting nozzles in (very secure mounting).

And I've had 3 different coating on various elbows. My black powder coated elbow stays as cool or cooler than the ceramic coated one. My friend has the ceramic one and after runs against each other at the track mine feels comparable or less hot to the touch. It may cool down faster, but it seems to have a higher peak temp gauging by our hands.

I have a black powder coated and a blue color matched elbow and I would never go back to rubber elbows.

Re: Trick Flow Intake Elbow

The previous owner installed the mod on the car when I bought it. It just seems more like a cosmetic dress up piece. If you want a smoother intake elbow, the 1LE elbow will give the same effect at half the cost.
