transmission problem

My car is a 95 trans am a4 every time i come to a slow stop and the trans downshifts i get a clunk noise in the rear or it seems
like the rear.Ialso get what seems like a turbine noise when i am
on the highway under acceleration when i let go the gas pedal it stops.Ihave also changed the gear ratio from 273 to 342.
Any help would be welcomed.

Sounds like a tranny mount, does it also clunk if you give it gas and it shifts?

Not the tranny mount checked it out at gm. Went for a test drive
with the mechanic he told me it was normal sound it's the tranny
downshifting not so sure about that. By the way they installed
my rear gears maybe his tying to hide something.

wow 95 White Trans seems like your car isnt treating you so good, so far all of your posts seem to be troublesome, How loud is this clunk your hearing, if its pretty quiet i wouldnt worry about it cause its probably normally 4L60E noise, but if its pretty loud i think the guys at GM are just trying to pass it off and deal with it.

Anyway good luck with the car, and i hope you track down the clunk

What about the U-Joints? Do they seem good....

Also, some other things that I remember others having problems with:

- Pinion bearing preload not adjusted correctly
- Drive Shaft Angle - If car is lowered - may need relocation brackets
- Axle Bearings

I have the same thing going on in my car, but I have a leaking pinion seal as well, so I am assuming it has to do with that.

Good Luck

Seems like there was a Service Bulletin about that but I could be wrong.
