Transmission fluid leak…

I replaced the backet that the PS pump, AC compressor, Alternator, and the belt tensioner are mounted to, and now my transmission fluid is leaking. Its not a fast leak (a couple small drops a day), but its enoughto have me worried. Could removing any of these parts have affected it? Is there a bolt or something I might have left a bit loose? The car did just turn over 170,000 miles, but it has never leaked a drop of anything until now. Any thoughts or ideas on the problem would be GREATLY appreciated!

No it shouldnt cause a trans leak, but there is two metal and rubber transmission lines that run in front of those item you replace. See if you might of bend, or snag it on something. But your best bet is park your car place a cardboard box under it then go back later on and pull the box out see were it's really leaking from. You can pin point it out.

Hey Vinny, thanks for the reply. I guess I should have thought about that- the leak isn't even near those parts, its towards the middle of the car about a foot back from the engine compartment, and slightly to the left (or at least what I can tell from the drops on the garage floor). As soon as it gets a bit warmer (and I get my jacks back from my friend) I'll be able to get under there to see for sure. Thanks again!

Sound's like it coming from the pan area. Check your bolts to see if any vibrated loose, this has happen couple of time's to me. When was the last time you replace your transmission gasket, they can get old and dry up which from hot to cold conditions cause them to leak.

I was able to get under the car slightly, and it appears to be leaking from the speed sensor unit just behind the pan (so I guess its oil, not transmission fluid). Could it just need a new O-ring seal or something? Is this an easy replacement? I really appreciate the help!

There is an o-ring for the sensor. GM PART # 15552872 . Just a matter of removing the electrical connector, hold down bolt and pulling the sensor out. You might get a little fluid leakage, so be prepared to catch it and replace it as needed.

Hey Brent. so did that leak end up being oil or transmission fluid? I'm just wondering cuz i'm gettin the same kind of leak right now after a local shop replaced my pan gasket. Check my post on checking transmission fluid.
