Transmission failure
Transmission failure
I have a 93 Z28 that has been sitting since 1999 due to the transmissions not being able to accomodate the load of my engine power. I run a automatic, and my engine consistis of 383 cubes and a procharger 7lb kit. The car has destroyed six transmissions and im not wanting to spend anymore money unless i can find a unit that can handle the tourqe. I have been told to install a turbo 400, but I don't want three speeds in the car. Is there anyone that can offer any advice as to any company that can build a trans that would hold the power? Any leads would be helpful, or am i just wasting my time.

A decent TH400 can be had for ~$1,300, but to that you need to add a converter and the GV overdrive is over $2K. So it's ~$4K (or more for a high-end tranny).
