I have my trans off and am about to put the new torque converter on. Should i fill the converter with fluid before it put it on?

And i am not sure what fluid was origonally put in this trans but i lost quite a bit of fluid when i dropped it. what should i do about putting new fluid in? Does it matter if i match what is currently in there?

 

I know your suppose to pre-lub the TQ, put a quart in it. The other loss, I dont know.
