tranny cooler on a stock car?

would it be a waste to get a tranny cooler even though my car is basically stock and the tranny is stock? it does get pretty hot here and I wouldnt want my tranny taking a **** on me. Should I Get one just for the "preventative case"?

Its the best $50 insurance you can buy. the lower the trans temp the longer it will last. Higher temps causes fluid breakdown and varnishing. YES get one, they are easy to install.

Definetly a good idea. The stock cooler runs through the radiator, which increases the temp as it goes through. An external cooler won't heat the fluid as much and should make the trans last longer.

Additional question -

When installing the cooler

a, bypass and plug the radiator cooler?

b, plumb aftermarket before the radiator cooler?

c, plumb the aftermarket cooler after the radiator cooler?

I've heard to do it every which way

I'd bypass the radiator cooler altogether. It just heats the fluid up more. That's how I have mine installed.
