tranny/clutch problem

I don't know if this is my imagination or not, but my car seems like something is working right. When I take off, the car vibrates as I step on the gas, its a manual by the way, and the only thing I can come up with is that my clutch is bad. I know this will happen if the car isn't at high enough RPMs, but I know how to drive so that isn't the problem. Is this a possible problem, or should I just rev it a lot higher and roast the tires after every stop?
And also, my transmission seems to shake a lot. It real bounces around, you can see the shifter moving, when its in neutral, and when it is in gear. It seems like a tranny mount is broke maybe? But I don;t really know much about that. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

The tranny wouldnt shake with a bad clutch. Your problems is either the flywheel got messed up somehow, or a tranny mount, or maybe an engine mount, id try the tranny mount first since its cheap, then go from there. before that just make sure eveything is tight under there.

I figured it wasn't shaking because of the clutch, I just figured I had more than one problem. Are tranny mounts a do it yourself project? Who would check the clutch for me? Could a shop take it for a test drive? Thanks again.

First of all, yes its about two or 3 bolts and you might need some kind of jack, or just a piece of wood to hold the tranny in the air.

Second a good test for a bad clutch is to stop, put it in third, rev it to about 3g and drop it, if it slips its bad or going bad, if it either breaks the tires loose or stalls its still good.

Okay, I will give that a try. Its raining right now, so I think it will work no matter what, so I will wait. I didn't think it was ever possible to break the tires loose in third, on a relatively stock car anyway.

Well no, but just incase they did it means the same thing as if it stalls.

if your mount is good and all is tight on the bell housing and clutch holds good it could be the springs in your clutch disc. we had this problem with 97z-m6. the car shook like he couldnt drive we put a solid disc bronze/kevlar. no problem yet been about 1 year

Do you think bad ball joints make the front of the car shake on acceleration? The front end place just called back and said I need new ball joints, so maybe that was the problem. Anyone think so???

Nope, not in my opinion, theyre trying to rip you off unless they are going bad. That would be a constant vibration I would think, take it somewhere else and ask before saying yes.

Well, I got it back, and the new ball joints didn't help the shakinng, but the alignment is perfect. Now I have to save up more money first.

sounds like a tranny mount Travis... 30 bucks, and its a snap to replace...I can give you easy directions if you want...just email me...

Have you looked at the tranny mount yet? Normally you can see it squashed down or missing pieces of rubber...

I am going to check that out , but now, the day after I get the car back, the engine f%cks up, so it doesn't even matter. Thanks though, I will definately do that if the car ever works right.
