TPS sensor and IAC sensor
TPS sensor and IAC sensor
I would like to try and clean this two sensors if they are dirty when i pull them off. will this hurt them at all wiping them off? do i have to work bout them being out of adjustment taking them off or anything?
Re: TPS sensor and IAC sensor
The TPS sensor is totally enclosed.... there is nothing to clean. Its a simply rheostat that varies the resistance as the throttle shaft turns.
The IAC motor is not a "sensor".... its an actuator - a small motor that moves a pintle in and out in tiny steps. The pintle should not be moved by hand, or you could damage the stepper motor. You also don't want to get liquid inside the body, where it could damage the stepper motor windings. Hold the pintle pointed down, and spray it with throttle body cleaner or brake cleaner to knock off any carbon on the pintle. You can brush the pintle lightly, or dampen a Q-tip with the cleaner and wipe it gently. Then make sure you clean the passage that the pintle fits into. If you have the TB off, you could remove the bottom plate and clean the passages. But you need a new gasket to reassemble it.

Re: TPS sensor and IAC sensor
i think i might just replace the sensors then. since the car sits alot and the car went through alot of time running rich and stuff those sensors could be worn out. well once i replaced the fuel pump my car was back to normal Injuneer. man the blower pulls so hard i love it. as soon as they tuned it the blower was louder and the bov. i love it.. i replaced the map sensor for the heck of it the other day. thanks for all you help.
