TPIS ZZ9 cam, too small?

The tpis zz9 specs are as follows: 212/226 at .050 with 112 ls

I am using this cam right now on a fully bolt-on motor, including LT1 heads that have been ported and polished pretty extensively. (sorry no flow #s)

In general how much power is there to be made when stepping up to a cc305 cam or something closer to these specs, which are closer to the 230/236 area...??? any dyno results or specific powerband shifts from small --> larger cam swaps??

currently taking suggestions!

thanks guys

come on dont be shy, everyone seems to have something to say about about their xe or cc...lets hear it
any guys do this actual swap, such as going from a tpis/hotcam size setup to something more radical, yet streetable?

That cam looks like it would work well for a stock headed car, but if you have a good port and polish job i would step to to something more along the lines of the XE230/230, which is good for about 400 RWHP.

If you dont wanna spin your bottem end quite as high, the XE224/230 is known to make around 375RWHP at a lower RPM.

A good rule of thumb is the wilder the cam, the higher RPM range it likes to operate in.

I had the ZZ-409 with stock heads and thats the ZZ-9's big brother. it was still too mild for me. When i got my heads cleaned up I switched to the GM847 (234/242 @ 0.050) and I'm much happier with that. If you are 80 years old then the ZZ-9 will be enough for you

do you know roughly the extra hp there is to be made from a cam swap alone?
my valvetrain is already built to handle a street cam, so i would be interested in hp gains from the cam swap by itself....anymore suggestions either? prices? i of course want to work this on a budget, i have been seeing $250 in a lot of places for cams of those larger sizes.

this may be a whole 'nother topic, but are those custom ground joe overtun cams what they are really cracked up to be? seems like people are raving over those...
