TPIS/Air Flow Reasearch LT1 Heads
TPIS/Air Flow Reasearch LT1 Heads
I was looking at TPIS LT1 ported heads and saw them listing AFR heads but did not say if they are 180 or 190. Not sure if they are reworked AFR's or the stock casting. They are listed for $1850, No exchange, or core fee required
Here is what they say about them:
"Air Flow Research Heads
This joint venture between TPIS and Air flow Resewarch will produce more torque and high end RPM power, then we could get out of our old air flow castings. These take advantage of the heavy duty AFR casting and our perfected CNC port design. They have 2.02 intake and 1.65 exhaust valves, .600 lift springs, Titainium retainers, guide plates and your choice of rocker stud size.
54cc chamber will help increase compression, while having a tight quench area. The intake ports are 187cc when were done with them. Similar to there pricier "competition port" heads."
Did anybody try these heads. Are they AFR180 or what?

Re: TPIS/Air Flow Reasearch LT1 Heads
AFR quit making the 190's a while ago and the only LT1 casting is the 180. THe 195, 210, 220 ect.. are LT4 castings. I was looking at the TPIS heads a while back but went with More performance instead. THe TPIS heads are AFR 180 castings that TPIS CNC's to ther specs so they end up closer to 190's.
Re: TPIS/Air Flow Reasearch LT1 Heads
Since TPIS is not too far away from me and they used to be a sponsor of our local club, I have seen quite a few of their AFR heads. They really aren't all that spectacular, and IMHO aren't worth the price. Best flow I've seen out of them are high 280s.
