Someone in my local club is selling a lt4 block for 400 bux..... he said he doesnt know the exact pricing, so i was curious the value of a lt4 bare block?

say 'ok' condition....

also i thought lt1 and lt4 blocks were the same.... he said the lt4 block has a 4 bolt main... that true?

how much should i offer? thx

 

No such thing as a "bare" LT4 block. What make the engine an LT4 is the crank, head(valve, springs, RR), intake. All Corvette LT1 have 4-bolt.

 

The LT4 block is a 4 bolt block so it is worth a little more then the 2 bolt. I paid $125 for a two bolt about 4 months ago because it was hard to find a good 4 bolt LT bare block. I would say $400 for a 4 bolt LT block is about right but the two bolts are cheaper and are suposed to be just as strong, I went with splayed mains so I am much stronger then either stock block.

 

Yes it is worth it . I was goimg to buy it , But I don't have space for it.

 

Don't buy it, buy a 2 bolt block and have it splayed into a 4 bolt. The factory 4 bolts the outter 2 bolts are drilled straight down perpindicular to the Deck surface, where as on a splayed 4 bolt the outta bolts are drilled at an angle to anchor into more MEAT of the block, and is wayyyy stronger than a factory 4 bolt.

 

I've actually heard that several people prefer the parallel bolts vs. the splayed.
