Torque values for LT1 alum. head rocker studs?
Locite on rocker studs blue 242 or red??
Could you guys let me know along with putting Thread sealer on the bottom of the studs ARP should I use blue 242 or red not sure of the number just on the top of the threads to lock them in Seems from the factory there was red of some sort at the top of the old studs ...unless that was to install the steel inserts for the studs in the heads?
Thanks Chris
Thanks Chris
Thanks about the locitie but there is Steel inserts I guess GM used RED when they install them, Not sure why You say it would damage the heads since they are going into steel threads....
Anyways Llyod told me to use Thread sealer as when he ports the heads a few of the stud holes get opened up into the intake ports.. So I guess thats why he says to use Thread sealer...??
Thanks
any thing else you can add?

Didn't know you had ported heads, yes you'll need thread sealer then, the kind to use when sealing waterjacket threads on some of the head bolts.
GM used heil-a-coils on the heads for the rocker studs threads, if you use locitie it will ripe the heil-a-coil out and you'll have the same issue another member has hand on this board lately... its not fun. No other tips, you should be set.

Your correct, i was thinking he had a set of stock lt1 heads. You need some major ported heads to have the rocker studs holes in the intake runners. Even if you can't SEE the holes doesn't mean you dont have them... when your pushing as much air through an engine as it takes to produce as much power as we are getting these days, even the smallest hole can cause undesired effects.
