Torque converter questions?

im going to be doing a Head/cam swap sometime this summer.
and I was wondering if it would be ok to run the stock TQ with the XE224/230 112LSA for a few months.
and what TQ should I get to use with that cam. This is just a street car it will probably never see the track but maybe 1 or 2 times a yr.

thanks for any help
-Matt.

Get a vigilante torque converter about 2800/3000 stall and youll be fine.

I just put in a 227/233 cam. I have a 2800 stall waiting to go on after I get the z out for spring. With the stock stall my car feels like a slug, no power off the line. I would def get a higher stall.

Where is the best place to buy a 2800 stall vigilante torque converter for a decent price? I know they're expensive, but where is the cheapest place. I've been looking to get one as well. Also what's the difference between a lock-up and a non-lockup Torque Converter?

Im also running the 227/233 but with a 3500 stall. Before, the car felt fine but now that Ive done the converter, I have seen the light. My car ran fine through the stock converter although it never will again.

The 2800 stall I have waiting to go in is an slp. I thought I would give it a shot since my old 94z had the 2400 slp stall and ran really well.

Are slp torque converters as good as vigilante's? Also like I mentioned above, does anyone know the difference between a lockup and a non-lockup Torque converter? Thanks!

I do know that a lock up will give you better gas mileage, but I don't know anything else.

When a converter "locks up" it no longer slips. It acts as a car with a clutch.
