torque converter question
torque converter question
i'm about to make an order for my 97 Lt1 Camaro with a 4L60E tranny, the plan is to go with:
i do need help with choosing the stall converter, the Cam's RPM range is 2000 to 6000, so i dont know which converter to get, shall i get a 2000rpm stall converter or go higher?
- XFI™ Xtreme Fuel Injection, 280XFI HR13: Cam & Kit
- Rocker Arm Kits; Chevy (V8 262-400 '87-Later w/ OE Hydraulic Roller Cam) 1.6 Magnum Rockers & Magnum
- will be looking for a 383 kit later on
- will need a stall converter

Re: torque converter question
The cam is too big, comp's rpm ranges are wrong with a shelf wide LSA cam you are probably going to want to keep the duration closer to mid 220s on the intake.
I certainly would NOT buy that "kit" either.
On the stall even with a bolton daily driver most folks go 3200 or so in a 9.5" converter, not cheap junk like B&M or TCI talking Edge, Yank Vigilante.
Then you are talking a "383 kit" but have not mentioned HEADS which are the most important part. Displacement does NOT add meaningful power unless you have the heads/cam to feed it. Ported stockers can be great but as cast stock heads on a 383 is a really bad idea that is done way too often.
My advise is settle down don't buy anything yet and start looking at results and what other's did to get those results
