Torque Converter

I wanna get a torque converter and was looking at the B&M converters. This is a daily driver car and I do quite a bit of stop and go driving so I dont want something that will get to aggravating. I was thinking maybe the Holeshot 2000. Also what is a lock up torque converter? Help me please

A 2400-2600 stall would be great on the street. Try Yank or PI and see what they have. The B&M 3000 is a good converter on the street.

Lock up converters are used for gas mileage and less strain on the tranny. Something you really dont need to totally understand unless you want an all out drag car that spins 5000 rpm on the street. Stick with lock up. LOL

pretty well stated. i have a 2400 and i wish i would have gotten about a 2800-3000. don't waste your time with anything less than 2400.

a 2000 ain't that much better than stock and you'll regret wasting your time....

My PI Vigilante 2800 is perfect for street use.. VERY mild mannered on the street but cuts nasty 1.7's at the track on stock suspension...

I'll be bumping up higher in several months only b/c I'm looking to start cutting 1.5's in about a year .

Although they are the most expensive on the market, the Vigilante or Yank stalls are definetely the highest quality and most worthwhile stalls out there. The ones by B&m are cheap because they are garbage, and i personally wouldn't waste my time with them. If u go with a Vigilante 2800, I have seen people shaving almost a half second off their quarter mile time, even on a stock setup. It is also a very streetable stall speed.

Only trouble is, u gotta get used to launching, but that can improve with practice Hope this helps.

Yeah the precision industries Vigilante is a GREAT converter. The 2800 stall from Vigilante is amazing. You can usually get them on this board for around 500. They usually go for 700 new, but 500 is definitely a great price for a used one, they last forever. Strong as hell!!!!

Oh, BTW, I heard that the B&M torqe converter is a piece, and that they arent very reliable. Just what I have heard though...no experience.

DO NOT GET A B&M for a 4l60e. That convertor killed 3 trannies. I love the one i have on the th400, but not our trannies. Spend the money and get what you pay for. Nothing less than 2800 lock-up.

I have run B&M, not the best quality. The torque masters are even bigger piles of steaming lizzard dung. Just my opinion 'tho.

So what kinda price am I lookin at? What brands are recommended besides a Vigilante...I dont really want anything that is going to be really annoying driving...so a 2400 stall would be good? Will it be safe to drive on the highway/interstate? Come on everyone gimme all the info you can :-) I want 12's, so far in my room I have headers and a shift kit (I know it wont do much performance wise) on my car already I have an exhaust (dynomax) and an slp cai, I ordered my LT4 hotcam kit and will be hopefully buying gears soon. So I am low on funding but I know you get what you pay for and owuld be willing to save for a lil while longer...So help me out guys cuz I know very little about converters other than the general purpose. Thanks fore all the help

For sure go with a 3000 stall. My yank torque thruster was great. Look at either yank or PI. no other way to go unless your a cheap ***.

I could daily drive my car w/ the 2800 if I chose to, a 2400 is a waste of time, don't even bother putting one in if you're going to get that.

Save your bux and pick up a Vigi 2800.
