Question Toning down my loudmouth

I will be putting on a set of Jet Hot LT's with a high flow cat and my loud mouth kit pretty soon. I was thinking of cutting out the resonator and welding in a muffler to refine the sound. I've been hearing a lot about the Dynomax mufflers but I'm not sure whether I should go with the Racing Bullet Muffler or the Ultra-Flo Muffler, or maybe a different brand all together. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Well if you are running a cat then you should'nt need a muffler. But if you still think it is to loud i have heard of guys running dyno max race bullets in place of the resonator.

I've heard that LM doesn't sound so great when you add headers, but I've never heard a car with LT's and LM in person so I can't really say. I'd say just put the headers on and see how the sound is and decide from there what muffler you want on depending on how much you want to tone it down.

A fiar ammount of people have done that. The differnce between the two I don't know. I am looking into see if Ravin Exhuast has something that will fit. Otherwise I know a guy with a super trap where the resinator went to. Actually sounds very good.

I cut out the resonator and welded in a Borla XR-1 (15" by 5" round). Had to massage the floorpan with a small sledge, but it tucks in fairly neat. Went from insane "hurt my ears" loud to acceptable. I have headers and no cat.

Maybe you should try to find a chambered muffler like what they put on the GMMG catback. Then you would have a nice muffled sound along with that chambered soound. I saw them on a webpage a while ago, but I can't remember it now. If I find it I will post it.

Question

Does anyone have a loudmouth kit with the Dynomax Ultra-Flo muffler and LT's?? How much quieter is it compared to the stock resonator??

I don't know if you can comfortably stuff an UltraFlo in there, but those chambered mufflers are probably your best bet. They'll have a warm, deep sound to them and they're not big at all. Go to Sweet Thunder to get them.
