Tires: GoodYear Eagle GS-D3 ???
Tires: GoodYear Eagle GS-D3 ???
The RS is almost fully operational again after the latest round of mods and repairs. The BFGs I have on it right now are old and worn SMOOTH. Time for some replacements!
But I am not sure what to go with. I want (NEED) good traction. I've gone through several on-line stores and found a number that fit the bill for my 16" rims.
BFG G-force KDW
Dunlop SP9000
Michelin Pilot Sport
Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position
GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3
and the Nitto DR if I ever get an extra pair of rears.
The main two I am looking at are the BFGs and the GYs. The G-forces are the same tread pattern of my current BFG Comp T/A ZRs which both look good and perform well.
However, the F1 GS-D3s, from what I have read, sound like they would be a better choice for performance. Does anyone have experience with them? What are people's impressions? And which tire (except the expensive Michelins) would be best?

I just got a pair of the new GS D3s on my car at the end of March and I love them! I even got stuck in an ice storm and managed to make it home from work (took me three hours to drive 25 miles though, thanks to the bad traffic, but I didn't have any major problems with traction believe it or not)
I cut a 1.99 60ft on these tires in my totally stock 3.23 geared A4, and was able to leave the line off idle and hit it full throttle immediately. So they hook up very well on good tracks. And so far they've proven themselves to work very well in the rain, since it's rained a lot here lately and I drive this car everyday rain or shine.
I'm very impressed with these tires so far.
