Tires are going bald...any recommendations for a new set?

93z28 auto....I'm really starting to worry about the tires on there...atleast the rear ones. The car gives out way too easily, but that might just be the way the Camaros are, I have no idea. I'm on my second day of driving one of these. The current tires on there are BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDWS. Should I just replace these with new ones, or are there better tires out there? I doubt I would be taking my car to the track very much if at all, so they would just be for maybe fast freeway driving and maybe stoplight racing. On a new set of tires is the rear end going to give out on a turn if you punch it? It did it pretty bad earlier tonight on me. Put me almost two lanes over before I straightened out. And for those who have bothered to see how fast your Camaro can go, what's the highest top speed you ever hit? I got mine to 140 tonight. Didn't really feel stable enough to make me feel comfortable going that speed though.

Not planning on making it a habitual thing, but I wanted to find out how fast it could go. 140 is good enough for me.

I heard that the Goodyear F-1 GS-D3s are supposed to be pretty awesome. I'm looking into getting them.

I put on the BFG KD's. Awesome. Also, the new tread pattern is supposed to be out there in circulation now, the ones that are in the Hot Rod mag. advertisement on the green roadster. Again, awesome!

Ive used the BFG KDS and they are very nice, a good cheap tire is the Kumho, but does seem to wear weird, a little extra tread noise as well. The firstone firehawks work well but expensive and the bridgestone 940s that they still make are a good all around tire.

Id say just replace them with the ones you have cuz those are really sweet *** tires. If you dou want to upgrade I would say the BFG KDW's they are superb for dry/wet traction but Im not sure on the Price.

Later,

My current set up is:

245/50/ZR16 BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW up front.

245/50/16 Nitto NT555R Drag Radials out back.

The next tire I get for the rear if I don't get drag radials again will either be the KDW or KD (if they make them in my size).

I like my tire combo that I have right now.

If you want great dry traction i would go nitto drag radials.

BFG's might be the winner.

I've got the Kuhmo Ecsta 711 on my car now and admittedly have not rotated the tires like I should have, but they have worn *very* evenly. I also don't notice the tread noise that you're describing.

I just purchased another set (4 tires shipped) for $250.00, with local mouting and balancing, I'm right at $300 for 4 tires.

These tires are *not* good snow tires! They do provide decent traction, and have lasted almost 30k miles for me. Overall a very nice tire.

Perhaps you're talking about the Ecsta 712 (the newer v-shaped tread pattern)?

For $56 a tire, before shipping, you can't really complain.

I Have had kuhmo ecsta supra tires that came with my 17x9.5" zr1's since march and they've been pretty good, they have a nice tread pattern and a deep groove in the middle to get rid of water, i dont drive my z in the winter so i dont know how they are on snow, but in rain theyre decent , nothing to brag about but you cant drive like an a$$ in the rain anyways.

Werd, I really like mine for the price...they could be a bit better, but for only 107 a piece for Z rated 275's on 17's....cant beat that.

My tires are damn near awsome, it is the ones in my sig. I always get comments, even from people who don't care about cars how awsome the tread pattern looks. They are the #1 rated tire on tirack for wet traction, dry traction, and quietness on tirerack.com for a STREET Tire. GOODYEAR F1 GS-D3
