Tire Width
Re: Tire Width
There was some guy that ran 315s on a stock rim 97 WS6, but i wouldn't recommend it. The 245s are decent enough. If you really wanna get something out of your tires get some drag radials.
Re: Tire Width
but he stated he has 16" wheels. the WS6 wheels are 17" i did a firebird once. using the stock 16 x 8 wheels, i put 265-50-16 all the way around without rubbing. but, when the TREAD width starts to exceed the RIM width, it will curl the edges and make the car squirmy. right now i have 335/35-17 on my 17 x 9.5 wheels. i change lanes and the car will wiggle side to side after making the change. but great straight line traction. cornering can be a little hairy though.

Re: Tire Width
Wow... that's quite a stretch. IIRC, putting a wider than recommended tire on a rim not meant for it causes undue stress on the sidewalls. This can lead to such things as blowouts, especially at high speeds. It also in some cases can REDUCE the amount of contact patch you have.....

Re: Tire Width
it wasn't weasy getting them on. two tire irons to get them on. yes i know. i've been in the tire industry since 1993. but they were free. used fronts of a viper from macedo motorsports. they needed to throw them away. so i said i'll get rid of them for you. it saves on my new sumitomos when drag racing.
