Tip for getting the final motor mount bolt back in?
Tip for getting the final motor mount bolt back in?
Had to raise the motor for the LTs, went back down and got 5 bolts back in no problem. The sixth bolt won't go in because there is another bolt right in its way.
That is the bolt I can't get in and obviously the bolt right next to it is in the way of it going in. It seems like that bolt is holding on the mounting bracket so I didn't want to touch that. Maybe im wrong?
I tried raising the motor again and slowly lowering it onto the bolt but the block would always push it out before the holes would line up.
Is there any tips on getting this bolt back in there?

Exactly what I just did. Held the bolt tight to the motor mounts between the mount and that already existing bolt head and fed the motor mount bolt from the back side! Easy as pie!!

When I did it I installed that bolt you have circled first in first, then I put in the bolt to connect the engine mount to the bushing. Then I lifted my motor up a bit to get better clearance and tightened down the bushing bolt itself. It's so weird how easy the LT1 is to work on things that seem impossible to reach when you just shift the motor around a little.
Re: Tip for getting the final motor mount bolt back in?
Sounds like you are going about this the hard way. All you need to do is take the horizontal bolt out to lift the motor up a bit. No need to unbolt the clamshell from the block. When I installed my headers I only had to lift the passenger side of the engine to install the passenger side header. Drivers side goes right in fom the bottom with no issue.... I just did the yesterday so I know it works.

Since those two bolt heads are touching or darn close to touching, and you cannot get a socket on the horizontal bolt, this means your motor mount is bad.
Replace that sucker.
Replace that sucker.

It looks like You should change out that motor mount bushing. The two bolt heads should not be so close together. When I changed my motor mount inserts, there was room to put a socket on the horizontal bolt, with the engine totally resting in it's natural position.
