Question Timing question

I have a 94 a4 Z, and i think my timing is off. When im at WOT, at about 4000 rpm usually it's in second or third gear, the car wants to "stall", it feels like it boggs down a good bit. I don't think its my fuel filter, and i just put on a new fuel pump. What do you guys think? Could it be the Opti, i have 140,500 miles on the car. The plug wires were changed last June, and i think the Opti is the original. If you all think it's the Opti, should I go with the original GM, or are there better ones ? Thanks in advance guys ! And how much does the replacement GM Opti cost?

Timing is completely electronically controlled, so you don't need to worry about that.

If your opti is original, then it's probably time for a new one. Dynatech makes a replacement performance opti, but most people will agree that it isn't worth the $600 price tag.

More info can be found here.

Thanks! Do you think it's the opti, or could it be something else. When i take off at WOT from a stand still, it pulls great through first and into second gear, untill it hits about 4000 rpm, and same in third, it feels like it's loosing power, WHICH SUCKS! Could this be the work of a bad Opti, or could it be something else? Oh, and how much does a replacement GM Opti cost? Sorry for so many questions, but i want to get this thing running right, if you know what I mean! Thanks again everyone

Are you getting a SES? Unless you were getting spark retard, its not the timing. It could be the opti, an exaust leak, all kinds of things. Unless you get lucky chasing down those demons, you may end up replacing an awfull lot before finding the part that was causing you trouble.

Buying a cable was one of the best investments I ever made.

The only time i ever get a SES light is when i'm usually cruisin around 70 or so on the interstate. The diagnostic scanner said that the right side O2 sensor was too lean. But I don't think the o2's are bad because before i changed them, the SES light stayed on all the time. Now it only stay's on for 30' to a Minute. My mechanic thought it might be the fuel pump, so we replaced it, and seemed fine for about 3 days, but it didn't fix it. Could it be a bad injector on the right side?
