Timing chain for High rpm Solid roller

I did a search on this but didn't really uncover any good answers, I'm build a high rpm engine with a high seat pressure solid roller. And I'm wondering who makes a good double roller setup that will work on a gen2. I will be running a Elec WP and More than likely the stock cover unless there's a aftermarket unit that will work better this is a drag car setup..

another vote for the Cloyes DR. I used the stock wp housing and a CSR water pump.....very happy with it.

I've been there and done that. There is only one really effective option for the application you have described (high lift, solid roller, high RPM, drag race-only). Any choice other than a Jesel belt-drive is a compromise. I have run this set up on my NHRA Super Stock LT1 for six years with no problems. The Jesel catalog does not specify a belt-drive kit for the LT1 but it's an easy adaptation. It also allows you to run an SBC gen 1 damper and timing pointer, an option that I found to be a plus.

I would not be aganist the idea of the Jesel Belt drive, how does it work with the opti ? could you post some pictures. I can't get a good picture of it in my head..

Sorry, please disregard my suggestion. I don't think there is a way to do it while maintaining the optispark. I converted the ignition to a crank trigger and a belt drive distributor. The optispark seemed like a serious liability in conjunction with 8000+ RPM. I can make them live at 7300 without much problem but the extra RPM opened the door to even greater potential for failures.

yeah I kinda thought it would be hard to do that with an opti. But I have been thinking about a crank trigger setup, I know the basic's behind the crank trigger how hard was it to install was their alot of fabrication or was it fairly straight foward

The primary challenge to fitting an out-of-the-box small block crank trigger to an LT1 is to extend the pick-up bracket farther forward to reach the extended damper. I machined a completely new pick-up bracket that is a bolt-on fit for use on the Stock Eliminator cars that are required to run an Optispark. Of course, by putting a Jesel on my Super Stock motor, I was able to use a first generation small block damper and the crank trigger kit fit without complications.

I've had no problems with the LT4 Extreme Duty set, with a solid roller and a 7,200rpm redline. The shop did drill 5 holes in the cam sprocket to reduce the excessive weight though. A buddy of mine running closer to 8,000rpm also used the LT4 ED with no problems.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to go with that coyles hex adjust timing chain, I'm really digging the features it has. I would really like the Jesel belt drive but I'm getting hyper about lighting this engine up so the Fancy'r I get with this thing the more money I have to save to get it finished so maybe save the belt drive and crank trigger setup for a later time.
