I just got a set of the Bridgestone RE-730's and I like them a lot.

They are way better than the F1's I had. TireRack had them for $141/tire, and the local Sears Auto matched their price and I got them installed the next day.

wow, so many responses. Its gonna be hard to choose because theres about 2 positive responses for each tire.

anybody have experience with the firestone SZ50 EP's, the Bridgestone RE-730's, and the Falkens?

dont want nitto 555r's because of the longevity issue

this will be a good reference post for other people

thanks

I don't think $142/tire is over priced. You just gotta shop around. I got mine from tirerack.com for $608, including the $40 for shipping.

I've had the original Potenza RE 730's now for about 20,000 miles. Here is my little review:

Awesome cornering. I can carve corners like crazy with no tire squeel and no side wall roll over. These tires are awesome handlers.

Good grip in the rain. Of coarse no tire has very good traction in the rain with our low end torque engines.

The first time I tried to break them loose after putting them on my car I almost stalled it. That's how sticky they are. Of coarse, I'm comparing to the nasty GA's that were on the car when I bought it new.

I love the tire for it's handling and grip.

The tread pattern is incredible.

Here is a big negative though. The noise is terrible. I can feel it in the throttle pedal sometimes. Keep in mind though that I have the Gen 1 RE730 tire. Since then, they put out the Gen 2 RE730 which is supposed to get rid of the noise. Go to www.tirerack.com and read the reviews of the tire.

If the Gen 2 does keep the noise down, these tires are the best I've ever driven. KDW's are also awesome tires.

I got my 245/50/R16's for $116 each. Best buy in my opinion, as long as noise was fixed with the Gen 2 tire.

Dan

I hate people that complain about traction... How come I can get traction with a blower on kumhos??? I mean face it, paying a ****load for some tires is not going to help your driving skills. Either get some coo street tires or move up to BFG or Nitto DR's. All those 200-300 dollar a piece tires are ridiculous, and they barely even last because they are so soft. I'd rather pay 150x2 for 8 nitto dr's than buying 300 dollar pole position s02's or something.

I would go with the Falkens. That is what I have and they are very sticky. I hardly spin at all anymore.

The people buying there tires online: Do you put them on yourself or will a tire place put on tires you didn't buy there?

A tire place will mount them for you, but it will cost you like $10 a tire probably. Might be a little more.

I did a lot of research before I bought tires and I ended up with the Bridgestone Protenza 730s. Great tire for the price. Great traction both wet and dry. Also a very quiet tire.

I can't believe that no one on here has tired the sz50 ep's....like someone said before, this is the top rated tire. But if they have any flaw its tire noise, they are not very quiet. Surely someone on this boards has a set.....I love mine.
