Talking Time for new tires! Need Suggestions.

Well my old Goodyear Eagle 245/50/zr16's (i think) are getting bald and I need some new tires. I am looking around online for some new tires. I see a few brands that I am interested in. I need good rain and dry traction, more dry than rain. Here is what I am looking at.

Kumho Ecsta Mx
Firestone Firehawk SZ50's
Nitto 555's
Yokohama AVS ES100's

There is no snow in louisiana so I need some good tires for handeling and traction. Thanks

Good start,

replace the kuhmo with the sumitomo htr z II and those are my four top recommendations. The nittos and firehawk are a lil more expensive. I'm not saying anything bad about the kuhmos, i've never had experience with them. All the others I have second hand experience with my friends cars, or my own.

i just bought 4 kumho ecsta 740s i think or somethin like that from discount tires and with them installed it was a lil under $500 and there is a free flat fix and free lifetime tire rotation...i figure i may get me some 17's next summer so i just wanted something that would be reasonable for the time being but they are great in the rain and great on dry surfaces....

my buddy just got a mystic cobra and he has some toyo proxes and they stick like no other or his car has no power ha one or the other...we did a big fish tail around this corner and they def kept us planted...

I have a set of 245/50/16 FAULKINS. The are really sticky, hook better than the 275/40/17 Kumho 712's i put on. They only have about 3 thousand miles on them. Will ship them to ya for $240. I can get you pics.

Firestone SZ 50 ep's.....overly priced and expensive...YES....but if you can get a decent price then they are worth every penny!!!!!

The are sticky as hell of the line and from a roll, they are nearly as good if not better then the nitto dr's i had on sometimes. They have insame wet traction/brakeing as well. The ep means extended performance and they will last a long time.

so im really thinking about the yokos
price dont really matter as long as its not over the 190 i paid for my tires right now. i just want to have some really good tires.
i am kind of weary about firestone after all of that lawsuit crap
i want them to last a while and i need them at least w rated.
i also want a nice looking tread pattern.
thanks for the responses.

then the sz50 ep's are exactly what you wanted, they will outlast any other z rated tire and have unmatched performance. Go to the firestone site and look at their tread pattern, you will love it. Its live v shaped and definetely noticeable as a "bad *** tire." LOL

I paid $150 a piece for my BF Goodrich KDW's and I got them form Wal-Mart. IMO they are a lot better then any Yok, that is what I had my car at first but they way to easy to spin. It is not that easy to spin these KDW's however. I brought these tires right before the price of the tires went up so they may be close to $180 but IMO they are easily worth the money even at $180. Check out your local Wal-Mart and see how much they go for.

I think he means FALKENS, I have 275/40/17 FALKENS on the rear and they are very sticky. Im trying to decide between the nittos and FALKENS.
