No it wouldn't. It would sound like a bag of ***. Trust me, I had the LM on mine. and just gutting the cat caused the LM to drone, pop, basically just terrible. Go with something with a muffler.

Re: time for a new catback

ya i figured with headers and a 2.5" y and 3" supercat it would sound like **** with the LM..i have the american thunder flowmaster catback on there now with a 40 series muffler and it sounds SICK... a little loud but thats b/c of the holes in the catback...it sucks i have to stray away from the best sound ever...only thing i could do is patch up the rust spots and try and keep it

or

go with a hooker catback but i have been reading its quiet and that not what i want

if i was to keep this existing catback and patch it..i wish there was a way to fab another outlet (passanger side) for my 40 series muffler b/c i dont like the single outlet but i love the sound...can it b done and will it not flow right then (ie no exhaust going out the fabbed outlet)

Re: time for a new catback

360$...how good does it sound and flow? Im used to a 40 series nice deep rumble that screams at all rpms...i dont think any muffler can match the sound of a 40 series flowmaster

pros and cons of magnaflow catback/muffler sound/flow..thanks guys very helpful

I couldn't be happier with my hooker. Everyone that has heard my car love the way it sounds. Heres a vid of it

My exhaust setup is jethot longtubes, hooker o/r y-pipe, and the hooker catback with an 18" bullet welded into the i-pipe.

Re: time for a new catback

I've got the same headers and y-pipe as you, only difference being I have an off-road pipe instead of a cat. Attached to all that I have a Hooker cat-back, and I can tell you it's not quiet at all. It was too quiet for me when I had the stock manifolds and cat, but I definatley love the way it sounds now. Not too loud when just cruising, but at WOT it just screams. Has a nice, deep rumble when at partial throttle too.

If it were me in your position I would go with the Magnaflow, cheap and stainless steel. You have headers, hi-flow cat. and with the Loudmouth it might be a bit much and lots of rasp. The Magnaflow muffler will get rid of the rasp and still sound really good. Plus you have the cut-out when you want the extra performance and the Loudness.

Re: time for a new catback

yes i have the cutout when i want the throaty speed boat sound and performance...but im really stuck between the magnaflow and hooker...they seem the same except for magna being stainless...but i want a sick rumble like i have now with the 40 series flowmaster...the magna seems like it will be too quiet

ahhhhh i dont know which one..

hooker or magna?????i figure since i have MAC headers and y pipe and cutout and supercat though that either one will sound better/louder than stock..im just mad im straying away from the flowmaster one of a kind sound.

so please more opinions on either magna or hooker...im looking for all around mean loud rumble (even at idle) since im so used to my 40 series. Thanks guys u r being very informative..please more

Re: time for a new catback

man you folks that think the 40-series flowmaster or even the hooker catback is loud should visit your local county that has no emissions testing. either that or just come down to Texas if you want to hear loud...

Re: time for a new catback

This might help.

This is my setup.

Mac Midlength headers, 12" bullet muffler in place of the cat, Hooker Catback.

This is a little in car video of a 40-70 run.
Click Here for 40-70 Video, (Right Click, Save as, Please)

It's a little louder in person, and the real deep tones didn't make it through in the video.

No emissions in this county...what? I cant hear you?

Gotta love that emission-free GMMG sound

Both Magnaflow and Hooker sound good and are cheap. But Hooker is aluminized. Tough call, try to hear them locally since the net doesnt give many catbacks justice.
