Tie Rod install problem.

me and a buddy were installing the front tie rods, the pass side went on fine but the drivers side is what stumped us..we put vice grips on the nut the used pliars on the tie rod to try and take it off,it worked on the other side.but the nut got loose and started moving toward the back and the tie rod isnt loosening.any ideas on what to do?

leave the tie rod end connected to the spindle to hold it from there, use vice grips on the tie rod and the wrench on the nut. you might have to heat it if you can not get it like that

You can try some penitrent lube first. let it sit and try it. you can try and wedge siomething against the vice grips so it doesn;t move alowing you to use all your force to hit the wrench. you don;t wanna push the wrench you want to hit it quickly and hard or hit it with a hammer. if none of that workes... heat it and srpay it with lube while hot

I had trouble with one of mine too, and it hadnt really been on there that long. Heated it up and it came off in 1/2 second.

even a burns-O-Matic torch would work unless you got something bigger. once it;s hot shock it with the cool spray lube and the lube will "suck" into the threads

Just a propane torch.

I wouldnt shock it with any liquid. Sudden heat changes in metal will stress it and cause it to become brittle. NOt to mention, many penetrants are flammable

it's not gonna cool it fast enough to crack the metal or harm the integrety.. and I have never seen any ignite unless it was with an open flame. just hiting the nut that you heated will caus e alot of smoke but no flame. and a shock from hot to cool is what you want cause it will cause the theards to expend then contract breaking it lose.. the same thing is done with torchs and a water hose..
