The dreaded ticking, another fun problem for the good ol LT1. It's coming from one spot toward the front on the driver side. I'm about to replace the throttle cable so I can pull off the stupid traction control and open up the valve cover and look but does anybody want to bet what it is before I find out ? You rev up the engine and it gets louder, def in the valve train.

you are not alone. but mine isn't valve train, I think "cracked flex plate"

doesn't do it out of gear??????? only when in gear.

well damn dude, can't you pull off the cover and look at the gears that line up with the starter ? Maybe you'll see something otherwise that would suck to have to pull the tranny/stall to get to that.

you must be psychic, I just put a used starter on.

I have several problems as of now. rear main leak???, and the rear end needs a new gear, I had considered the starter but given all that is wrong. I'm going to wait for some shop space to open up and dig in.

my sons truck is eating up all my space and I want to concentrate on getting it running before he gets his license.

got that valve cover off yet?
