I recently bought my 94 z28 I replaced the optispark and water pump. I recently started hearing a really loud ticking noise. From inside the car with all windows up it sounds like it’s coming from the passenger side. But when the windows are down you can also hear it loudly on the driver side. The car is running straight off of headers at the moment I need help to what could be going on

 

Where does it sound like it’s coming from when you open the hood and poke around with a stethoscope?

Or does it only make the sound when the vehicle is being driven with the engine under load?

 

The noise can’t really be heard in the engine bay at idle. It mainly is when ever accelerating or deacceleration

 

Are you saying your exhaust consists of open header collectors?

Manual or auto trans?

 

Yes I’m just open headers and it’s a automatic sadly.
