Well if you got money to throw around just put a new IAC valve in. If not then you'll need to start testing power and ground to the connector. a DMM (digital multimeter) is the best so you can see what the voltage drop is.

There are two things that can set this code.... 1) actual idle speed 100rpm above programmed idle speed, or 2) an "intrusive" test where the PCM opens up the IAC motor by an additional 45 steps, and looks for a specific increase in MAF grams/second flow. Could be a faulty IAC motor (Shoebox has the "checks" on his website), or plugged IAC passages.

When you post a tech question, post all the relavant information. With no info provided in your original post, I assumed you were working with a relatively stock setup. Add a "signature" with year of car, trans type and any majot mods. It will increase your probability of getting the correct answer.
