What size throttle body do I need for a 370-410rwhp motor? I am a carb guy, and my understanding is that unlike carbs, a throttle body that is too large will not hurt you at all, except for possibly idle quality....true? This will be a 383 california smog legal

52mm aftermarket? 54mm? 58mm?

What is the opinion on brands availible? BBK, Edelbrock? ASM?

 

I'd do 58mm over 52mm, but anything larger than stock would help. I just wouldnt go crazy and get a monoblade.

Ford injectors are good, I havent had any trouble with the 30# set I had before, couldn't say the same about the 36# Accels, just stay away from Accel injectors. The only thing about the 30# is that they might be a little small for your goal.

 

Injectors are sized based on flywheel HP, not rwHP, so without knowing what your drivetrain looks like, we can only guess at flywheel HP. Could be about 500HP. Quick way to get in the ballpark on injector size is multiply flywheel HP x 0.07.

500HP x 0.07 = 35#/HR
458HP x 0.07 = 32#/Hr

That assumes a decent tune and a duty cycle of 85% or less.

I used 85% duty cycle, w 43.5# and at 475 HP, you will need a set of 42# injectors (or greater) in a supercharged setup.

 

AS&M is the nicest piece IMO, thats what i would get. Also if I was going to spend the money on a TB it would most certainly be a 58mm version.

 

Who said anything about a superharger? And that is because they have a higher BSFC.
