throttle body queston

im getting everything gathered up for my heads/cam setup, ive got a cc306 cam, 1.6rrs, loyd elliot ported intake and heads are ported to match, not exactly positve on the size of the valves but are definately bigger than stock, 30lb svo injectors, pacsetter lts, patriot gold extreme springs, mufflex 4inch catback. the car already has a 100 shot of nitrous would i benefit more with a 58mm throttle body or 52mm?

I guess it would depend on the flow rates of the intake heads ect... if your maf or heads cannot flow more then the tb then I guess you wouldn't need it. But I would say bigger is better

Is the intake opened up for a larger TB?

Re: throttle body queston

Take a look at Injuneer's car. Don't quote me on the numbers but I think he is making in the neighborhood of 615 horsepower normally aspirated and then he adds a large nitrous shot on top. He is equipped with a 58mm throttle body and made maximum hp at something like 75% throttle opening. He would have been OK with a smaller TB. You really don't need a 58mm TB unless you have gigantic power.

The old adage that 'bigger is better' while true for displacement simply isn't for most things....including camshafts and throttle bodies

Good luck!

Re: throttle body queston

Not quite - wish it was true. 500HP at the flywheel NA. 77% throttle opening on the 58mm TB max'd out the HP. Opening it further made no difference. All this documented with multiple pulls on an engine dyno. The calculations indicate it would have made the same HP with a 52mm TB at 100%. The guys that built the engine still laugh at the "engineer" who figured he just had to have a 58mm TB (it was one of many parts I supplied). They used a 58mm on George Baxter's 1,125HP blown 383 LT1.

yes the intake is ported for a 58mm but i believe i will just go with the 52mm i figured a 58 wouldnt really serve a purpose i just wanted a second opinion thanks for the help guys
