Throttle Body Plate

I was wondering if there is anything special on the bottom of the TB plate. I can have one made for free if I can just bolt a flat piece of metal on it. I was looking at the stock one and it looks like it has passages of some sort. Does the custom one need the exact same passages?

No there's nothing special there. Just seal it with the TB gasket.

If you mean the plate on the bottom of the TB, you certainly cannot remove it. The IAC is in there.

Exactly...the bottom of the top plate. I want to make a custom one but not sure why the stock one has grooves in it. Anybody with an aftermarket one should know if theirs is smooth or not.

Re: Throttle Body Plate

I have an aftermarket one and it is 100% smooth on the bottom side! Just get a new gasket and you'll be ok!

Re: Throttle Body Plate

cool....thanks. That is all i need to know. Not that it matters anymore, but why is the stock one shaped like it is? Is there a reason behind it or is it like so many other things......"it just is".
