I just cleaned my entire throttle body. I noticed once i got off all the carbon on the back side of the blades, that their is some kind of coating. If so, what is it? What purpose does it serve?

The stock blades have a coating that is supposed to resist carbon buildup. So much for that theory. The coating will be removed if you use a conventional "carb" cleaner... you need to use "throttle body" cleaner.
