I have a Hooker exhaust, some Jet Hot LTs and a Hooker Y-pipe. I am kinda disappointed with the sound. It sounds great over stock when it was just the catback, now its kinda raspy sounding and isnt that much deeper. So an electric cutout is on the way and I'll be done with it. Dont get me wrong though I still love the thing, but I want louder.

stock piping has gotta be around 2.5''? does this get narrower over the axle?

im considering just getting the hooker muffler welded in with stock pipes + tips b/c i'm on a budget, BUT, if the muffler is not sold seperately or if the catback is significantly better than just a mufffler, perhaps i should change my mind?

thanks guys | Brian

Here's my hooker catback sound. I run an open cutout usually though.

SO | what's the verdict?

Hooker Aerochamber muffler on a stock catback a good compromise ($90) - OR - definitely save up for a full Hooker SuperComp catback system? ($270)

option #3: Hooker Aero muffler (3''in, dual 2.5''out: p/n 21729) with shop installed 3'' intermediate pipe (~$200)

by the way ~ anybody experience highway drone with the hooker?

opinions?, Brian

DOH! a wiser me would invest in sfc's first but daym i gotta have the sound!

It does have a bit of a drone around 2500, nothing to complain about. Sound awesome, I've had mine over a year now and people have had nothing but good to say about it. My only gripe is the fitment of the entire catback system. Still to this day that thing rattles on my axle where it goes over it. Also the tips didn't exactly line up properly. I had to trim almost 2 inches off of the passenger side outlet. But for the money

I have Hooker LTs, Hooker Y, and Hooker cat back with NO cats. Mine is very loud and mean sounding. It is awesome. Everyone that has heard my car says that it sounds bad as$

Save up for the whole system.. remember, it comes with all the pipes, including the tailpipes...

On a side note, here's my Z w/ a hooker catback, hooker longtubes, and XE 224/230 cam

Also dug this thread up for a second revival.

My buddy has a Grand National with the AeroChamber system and loves it and since I want to make my LoudMouth system quieter (I know what you're thinking, you've got LM, you didn't think it was going to be loud? It was given to me versus no exhaust system.) I am thinking about putting an AeroChamber muffler on.

I'm planning on unclamping the back half of the LM where it goes over the axle and welding up some piping to go into/out of the muffler and just clamping it back in where the old system used to go so I can change back easily if I ever want to.

Do you think I would experience similar power levels with this system instead of the actual Hooker cat-back since I do have the mandrel bent piping from the cat-back already?

Yep, I say go for it. It's the same muffler used in the cat-back system anyways.
