To those who have removed engine from bottem?

Did anyone accomplish this in their garage? My garage is a tad over 8ft tall and I'm wondering if I will be able to lift the body high enough with a hoist to clear the engine. Looking for someone who has experienced this first-hand.

Thanks

Cody

Yeah, when we raised the car the bottom of the front bumper cover was a little more than a yard off the ground (took a picture thats why i remember), and that was enough to pull the engine straight foward. You should be fine.

Re: To those who have removed engine from bottem?

I just finished putting mine in from the bottom Wednesday night, so it's pretty fresh in my mind

3 ton floor jacks raised it high enough to put it in from the bottom while it was sitting on my motorcycle jack. I did put a piece of 4x4 treated wood inbetween the jack and the body for some extra lift. With the front air dam removed the engine/tranny will fit with the tires on as you slide it in from the front. I kept the car on jack stands (all four corners) and used the motorcycle jack to raise the K-member into the body. I also kept a floor jack under the tailshaft of the tranny to give me the right angle for everything to line up. It slid right in, no problems.

Good Luck.

No, but i think it can be done that way. I lowered the whole car onto on of those moving dollies, unbolted the cradle and strut tower, lifted the car, and the pulled it out. There not rated to hold that much weight, but it worked fine for me.

You can leave the tires on if you want. I did on mine. Made it easier to move it around. I didn't have an engine cradle tho, which I'm sure would have been better.

I left my tires on and rolled the whole thing out. I left a jack under the cradle and a jackstand under the trans. I did it all with nothing more then a basic set of handtools in my little freezing cold garage... by myself.

Even with the tires left on, the k-member is barely off the ground, so there is little height difference by using a dolly or something else under the k-member.
