Those with LT1 Fluidamper on car.

I was reading the directions for my fluidamper that I bought for my '96 Z and it says something about cars not using a reluctor wheel use the provided spacer, cars using a reluctor wheel don't use the spacer. My question is, what [EDIT] is a reluctor wheel and which cars have it and which don't? I'm assuming mine doesn't because it doesn't look like there is anything behind the hub on the crank but I don't know exactly I'm even looking for. Also, I guess I'm suppose to just use the keyway on my damper for a TDC reference, so when I take the hub off of the crank I have to remember where the triangle was pointing in relation to the crank, no? Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.

Myles

The reluctor they are speaking of is the gear type wheel that your car HAS inside the timing cover. It is used by the little device with 3 wires on it at the bottom of the timing cover called the crank position sensor or CKP.

Mine is on an aftermarket crank that has a keyway and is not tapered. Don't know how yours is going to work. Perhaps it would be a good idea to contact the MFR to get their recommendations instead of here. That way if something fails it's their fault for giving you the wrong instructions.

The reluctor wheel is used on the 96/97 OBD-II cars. I know on the ATI damper, the hub is the correct length for the cars with a reluctor wheel, and if you have a 93-95 without the reluctor, there was a shim required to fill the empty space.

You need a key. The LT1 crank already has a keyway, the Fluidampr hub should have a keyway. There should only be one way they go together.
