For those looking for gasket sets, I made up a helpful chart

http://paradox.shacknet.nu/dave88lx/...asketchart.gif

Basically shows the gasket sets that Thunder Racing and Combo Motorsports offer, which sets have duplicate gaskets from each vendor etc.

I need a COMPLETE set, so I'll probably just call each company for a quote.

But, hopefully this might help some of ya's out.

I called up Combo and Thunder today.

I wasn't too happy with Combo, maybe it wasn't understood what I was trying to say?

Basically both places told me to buy a "Heads & Cam" gasket set, then...

Thunder said they will just add an oil pan gasket, rear main seal, and a couple other gaskets. Ugrade from the GM to FEL-PRO 1074 head gaskets would be $10 I believe it was. Total was around $250+ if I remember right, the prices are at work, I'll get an exact # tomorrow.

Combo said to also get their Bottom end gasket set (I'd get duplicate timing cover gasket, opti seal, water pump seal, and crank seal). I was told I could "upgrade" the $116 Cam&Heads gasket set to Fel Pro 1074 by them KEEPING the GM head gaskets, then CHARGING me $34.xx each for the Fel Pro's. The person I spoke to also couldn't tell me anything about a water pump gasket or "remember" what it looked like... So that would be Cam&Heads + Bottom End + Head Gaskets = $116 + $59 + $35 + $35 = $245; not to mention that it still needs valve cover gaskets & water pump gaskets... He said that the GM head gaskets were $32 a piece, wouldn't it make sense then that to upgrade to the Fel-Pro's, it would be just a $5-6 charge then?

I'm hoping the person I spoke with was just having a bad day, because I've heard great things about this company...

I may just get the Fel-Pro's from my builder, and then call Jason or Dal and see what they can get me all the GM gaskets for.

Can anyone tell me which of these I need?

94-97 top and bottom throttle body gaskets ACDelco #40-743 17113074 $4.87
1993-1997 Throttle body to intake manifold gasket 10105379 $3.22
1994-1997 upper/cover throttle body gasket kit 17112831 $13.97

Also, if I'm running Long-Tube headers with no emissions equip, do I still keep the EGR? Or do I get a blockoff plate or something? Does that require a gasket or do they have 'kits' that come with a block-off and gasket?

Thanks!

You need these two:

94-97 top and bottom throttle body gaskets ACDelco #40-743 17113074 $4.87
1993-1997 Throttle body to intake manifold gasket 10105379 $3.22

OK found my notes.

For Thunder Racing:

Head & Cam gasket set: $189
FEL PRO Head Gasket upgrade: $20 (Even though they are only $2 more each )
Rear Main Seal $24.82
Oil Pan $45
TOTAL $278.82

For what I'm doing, it was about $80 cheaper to get the GM gaskets through Dal, and then buy the Fel Pro-1074 head and the Fel-Pro intake gaskets. I didn't ask about header gaskets because I already have them. Of course price depends on your exact application, I'm getting an EGR blockoff plate etc.

The conclusion that I have come to is to give Dal (or Jason a call), and they can set you up with all the gaskets you need at a substantially cheaper cost than these 'gasket packages' offered.
