Ignition switch install...now draining battery when off(ignition staying on?)

Ok i followed the instructions on shoebox's site and replaced my electic ignition switch(one on top of steering wheel.)
Well I couldnt get the whole wheel out, it didnt want to budge...so i left it in there and replaced it while still in the car. it was a PITA but I got it done...but the problem is since I couldnt see where the old screws were lined up holding the ignition switch on, I just put it on there and didnt think twice. Well I guess its keeping the ignition on for some reason now cause it will kill the battery in one day.

since I still cant the steering wheel out, how do i check to see that the ignition is turning off? I was just gonna loosen both 8mm screws and move it a lil until I get it right...will that work?
Cause when the ignition is in the off position, all lights turn off like normal, but its still draining battery)

Any way to use my digi multimeter to test to see if the ignition is actaully turning all the way off?

Thanks guys

I also replaced my ignition switch. Be careful to disable the air bag prior to taking it out and put it facing up on the floor. You'll need to go to Checkers or Autozone and get a wheel puller to get the steering wheel off. You can either buy one or rent one, depending if you plan to do this again in the future. It's really simple and easy to work. There is no way to get the steering wheel off without a puller.
Good luck,
Glenn

Hmm...after looking at the ignition switch, I realize that there is only one screw that holds the ignition switch on, and then there are two more that go through both the dimmer switch and igni switch. So it looks like you can customize the placement of the ignition switch, just the dimmer.

So what the hell then, does that mean that my ignition switch is just screwed and is staying on? I dont get why my battery dies over night..its a new battery and new alternator.

Any other ideas?

Yours must somehow be different then. Mine only had 2 screws that held both dimmer and ignition switch and both are adjustable. Sounds like you got yours way out of adjustment.

My write-up says just how to install the switch and get it in the right position. Not sure where you went wrong.

Actually mine might only have 2 screws...hard to remember, but I do know it looked exactly like the stock one. So I guess it is the same one.
I dont know if its out of alignment or not. I did exactly what you're page said to do....

The only difference ive noticed is when I go to turn off the key(into off position) it doesnt seem to "click" anymore, just kinda goes to the position and stops. If I put it into accessory position, radio still comes on and all...nothing has changed really except for the "off" position...that and the battery is draining.
