Thinking of the Hot Cam Kit. Any suggestions
Ok, I want to get some more power out of this beast, but I still want to be able to drive on the street. I also plan to be going to the track alot this summer. I'm looking to break into the 12's with this cam.. All this is for the car in my sig wich reflects all of my current mods.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to be needing a 2500rpm stall wich I am very ok with since my damn 60' is only as low as a 1.9 since I launch like a pig. I'm currently stuck with the stock 2.73 rear gears and might later do a swap for some 3.42s or maybe 3.73s, but not right away.
I'm looking to see if anyone has any suggestions on a different cam that would better suite my goals, or confirm that I am on the right track with the Hot Cam Kit.
Sorry for the long post, just gets a little worrying when you start ripping into the heart of an engine.lol

Ya, hopefully we'll get some awesome info. Well, I'm definately going to do stall/gears, but not until I have a good reason too. *cam*..lol.. I'm dead set on doing a cam now while I have the time and money. That's why I'm looking for either suggestions on a cam better suited, or to see if my current cam choice is sufficient for my goals/needs.
I'm mainly looking at the HotCam Kit for streetability, and so I'll have a little lope, but not so much that I'll speed up my future goals of swapping in an M6.

I have a hot cam kit in my 97 ss and I use it as a daily driver. the kit so far has been a good improvement although when I had my car dynoed I only put down about 294hp to the wheels which made me really bitter, I was looking for more like 320 to 330 with all my supporting mods. one thing that I would highly suggest when going with a bigger cam or even if you plan on getting some heads is a fuel pump. that was the reason why my numbers were so low. but right now I'm looking at getting some heads to compliment the cam so I was thinking of some le1 or 2 heads. I heard that heads make the biggest difference especially with a cam.
Well, I'm definately feeling good about the HotCamKit.. Before I was looking at the CC305, but thought it'ld be too much cam for the street in an A4 car. Especially since I don't know when I'll be getting around to the gears, but I'll prolly pick up a stall from work before I order the cam.
maybe this will help you out. i just goes to show you how hard it the LT4 cam can pull. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afCRqZGm8r4
im with yall, im about to make the step for a street cam.
i do believe the CC305 is almost the same cam as the LT4 hotcam.
i wouldnt mind changing my gears, how many run the stock rear end with aftermarket gears?

My friend has the Hotcam with all the supporting mods. Very quick car. firechicken, the A4 guys have better luck with the stock rear and gears than a M6.
Here are the specs I had in my notes.
LT4HOT 218/228 112 .525/.525 (@1.6:1)
CC 305 220/230 114 .544/.544 (@1.6:1)
All very nice off the shelf street cams IMHO.
You might even want to consider the 503.
CC 503 224/230 112 .539/.544 (@1.6:1)

Check out my mods, I put down almost 350 hp the wheels and still need Bryan to reprogram my computer for 5% more fuel across the board. My car is very streetable. o yeah, my cam is the 07-502-8. Is that just called the "502"?
