thinking about a new oil
not at all man, i have the same feelings as you. just been reading alot otherwise lately. prolly gonna end up continuing the cheap stuff was more concerned about the weight which was different than my machine shop recommended.
i see where your coming from but why would they make different weights etc if it didn't have any effect? I noticed a bit of a difference when I switched to synthetic, the car ran a little smoother, tiny effect but noticable.
I have to agree with mdacton. As long as the oil is of some quality is shouldn't make a difference.
As far as the dry start goes, thats going to happen no matter what happens after an oil change. I fill my oil filter before I put it on, but you still are going to have a period of limited oil on the bearings.
Most problems I have come across related to oil are either user error when doing a change or clogged oil pickup.
