Thinking about going to true duals, how much more HP? (heads/cam car)

I want to get rid of my Flowmaster/cutout catback. I don't open the cutout much because with longtubes it's very loud around town. How much more HP do you guys think can be obtained from true duals, dumped before the axle? Mods in sig. Thanks!

Versus having your cut out closed, with your flowmaster, I say 7-10RWHP.

Possibly a bit more.

Another possibility for you though, that is a good bit cheaper, is to buy a replacement aerochamber muffler, for a 3 inch pipe. Use your flowmaster tips, and I pipe, just replace the muffler ...

I was either goign to do this, or remove my catback, and run two bullets ( So its not Arrest-Me-Officer Loud ) dumped at the rear axle.

i'd say 10-15hp...almost all in the upper rpm band and peak.

it should be well worth it.

and something like magnaflow 4x9" mufflers will keep it nice and quiet. check out gripenfelter's true dual thread in the "general tech" section from a few weeks ago. i posted vids before and after the addition of the magnaflow muflers on my cammed LS1 w/ duals.

That's exactly what I did. I had the Flowmaster single 3" in/out catback, and I replaced the muffler with a 3" in/out Aerochamber. The Hooker was a bit longer, so I just had to cut and re-weld the hanger on the tailpipe. I don't know how much power it picked up, but it sounded a million times better! I also recently added a 24" Dynomax bullet where the CAT was to try to quiet it down a bit(not that it was THAT loud), but it really didn't do much. Still, I really like it, and it's not obnixiously loud and has a very nice, smooth tone.

I loved my long tubes with ory and slp 2otl. It was nice and mellow and just had a sound of its own. Probly my favorite exhaust setup ever.

nick3, I noticed that in you sig. that you use trick flow tall valve covers. What did you do to the alternator to get them to fit?

i had a special smaller crome alternator made and it also has 140amps. the machanic doing the rebuild for me has all the connections. he had it made for my for only $100. it only has to be about an inch thiner to fit. my car should be done in a weeks time, i hope.
