Question Cutting/Shaving New Poly Motor Mounts

Where exactly do you the motor mount? I have the Energy Susp. motor mounts and I don't want to hack them up too bad. I see that one mount is too big in the clamshell (the clamshell shaped like a large triangle). Do I shave the top of the mount? If so, how much?

When we did motor mounts in my friends 94, we didn't do anything like that. I don't remember what the shells were shaped like.

Are you sure you have the right mounts in the right side and in the right way?

Yes, I'm sure. I have searched and have seen a couple posts that briefly mention cutting but not in detail. The posts mentioned cutting the corners of the mount but I don't see why they need to be cut, it seems that the top needs to be shaved.

I just did mine a few weeks ago. I didn'y have to shave the shell. I did have to trim the poly though. I put them on and then lowered the engine and trimed as necessary with a drimel.

Re: Cutting/Shaving New Poly Motor Mounts

I had to modify the passenger side a little. The poly was sticking out too much to get the mounting bolt in the hole so i had to trim the top corner a little. I ended up swapping back to OEM a year later anyway. The poly shrunk and ended up being loose in the clamshell making my header hit my steering shaft again.
