i have a 1996 z28 and i really need to put new tires on and i wanted wheels but dont think i will be able to afford it till next summer so i am looking at puting 4 245/50/16 kumho ecsta 712 on my car just so i am safe for atleast another year. I can get into them for under $400, is it worth it? Also are they a z-rated tire or a w-rated tire....does anyone know or does it even matter...i think anything rated above z is really just z or somethin like that...

 

i say as long as their z rated and they roll fu*k it who cares their just street tires..

 

You can get some takeoff stock tires at SLP for like 80 bucks each, 5 miles on them, if you don't mind the Goodyear GSC's.

 

The 712's are a decent tire. If you can get 4 of them for 400$ I'd do it. If you can afford the jump to Kumho MX's I think you would enjoy them more. I've run Firestone SZ50's, 712's and MX's and I like the MX's best. Decent in the rain, they get better and better as they warm up and are a good value. If you are getting new wheels in a year or so that’s about how long either of the Kumho's will last so I'd do it.

i have them on my car and havent had any problems with them. great tire for the money IMO.
