Think i broke iac, maybe not

I was planning on doing and intake gasket leak repair and i took my tb apart for cleaning. I accidentally pulled the pintle out of the iac. I think i broke it but it is possible i didn't. Does anyone know if i just screwed it back in and pushed it down, will that fix it? I cant tell any other way to service it but i sure don't want to buy a new one, 50$ at autozone and i am tired of buying new sensors for stupid stuff. Already had to buy tps and coolant temp sensor.

How does the car run in open loop? When mine was going out, the car would start, and then die, and it acted like a carbed car when starting in anything less than 70' outside. I'd have to give it gas to make it idle, etc...

I would think you probably broke it.

Either you broke it or you didn't.

If you didn't plug it back in and GO.

If you did bite the bullet and buy another one.

I put thye car back together and it seems to run ok... Idle seems a little high when not in gear. Is it normal to run a little higher when the whole tb and idle air chamber has been cleaned out? Seems to be just right when in gear though, havent driven it much.

I didn't run it long. Tach said a little under 1500 so i think that should be alright. Don't remember exact number just seemed a little higher than normal to me. I didnt let it warm up either though.

I'd highly recommend replacing it then, can't be cheap it just won't work.

That idle is completely TOO high also.

Stock PCM idle setting for A4 in neutral is 650rpm, M6 is 800rpm. Even allowing 100-200rpm error for the stock tach, yours is way too high.

Re: Think i broke iac, maybe not

Well i drove it and the idle seemed somewhat high for a few blocks then it was normal when i arrived at my destination. In gear was ~700 on the tach and out of gear was like one bar higher. The pcm probably just needed to adjust. I am not sure if i broke it or not so i dont want to buy a new one if i dont need to. I guess ill drive it a few more days and see what is going on. If i need a new one, then i will get a new one.
