Things that make you feel stupid

I showered myself with coolant yesterday.

So this is what happened. I finally got to replace the Water pump to heater hose (just the elbow that is). So I drain the radiator, removed the hose that by the way had lost of coolant still in it. Haaaaa, I dryed the whole area and hooked it all up together nice and neat right??

wrong!!! I had this brand new coolant temp sensor laying around and figured its a perfect time to replace it!!! . So I get underteath her again...(she was on a jack stand) and proceed to remove the old Sensor... I swear nothing dripped out of it till it came off!!! Wham!!!!!! I was directly underneath it and attempted to fly out of there but My work on the car shirt got long sleeves and one got caught on something and I coundt see cause all the coolant spilling on me I closed my eyes and mouth shot.. I got some in my nose too... till she emptyed herself...

Talk about a golden shower

The moral of the story... no matter how sure you are you doing things right.... something can still go wrong.

I feel I should let you guys know ... if you ever change that sensor and your radiator is empty, still do it from the top, not matter how dificult it can get, unless you are into that kinda sort of thing that is ( )

Things that make you feel stupid:

I've been having trouble with my brand new Optima Red Top battery dying after sitting for a few days. Took it back, got a new one, same problem. Kept having to go in for a charge. Finally broke down and bought a charger even. Well, after charging the battery again, I was brought about this point: Having done a console swap to a 97+, the box light in the early style didn't have a mount. So I left it under the console. Light on the whole time. No more problem.

I was in the back of my store (I work for my dad and when its slow in the winter he lets me work on my car out back cuz its all concrete) . Anyways , I was gonna do the fuel filter so I had the car on ramps and took off the gascap and etc etc. I knew thered be some gas in there , but I figured there cant be that much in those lines. I took it partially loose and let it drain on a rag a few seconds and I figure that must be about all. I pull the filter off from the exit side and gas came literally pouring out of it and onto me. It flowed for like 30 seconds or so . I walked inside with half my shirt soaked in gas and it was in my hair and everything lol. Fortunatly he let me go home and shower and change. It was funny as hell tho.

I've showered myself twice with coolant. And I'll tell you what, it comes out damn fast out of the engine block.

being an impatient bastard, I'm frequently thinking of ways to speed repetitive tasks up.

While trying to fill the pumpkin of the 12bolt up without a fuild pump, I decided to poke a little hole in the gear lube bottle, and hook up my air compressor to it. I was only intending to leak a little in, and fill the rear end up. Well, as you can likely guess, first push on the trigger, and the bottle basically exploded on me, covering me with thick gear lube. I smelled that nasty stuff for a week.

When I had my old '90 Trans Am GTA i would have this intermittent starting problem. Turn the key, dash lights would go out, no clicking, no turning, nothing. When the key was in the "on" position the lights and stereo and everything worked, just wouldn't start. I was like WTF???? Leave the car dor 20 minutes, come back, it started right up. No need to sya this was frustrating. Couldn't even jump it. I tried eveything, new battery, fuses, the works. Then I changed the battery cables. They originally connected on the side, I convertated them to connect on the posts on top of the battery. Problem solved. Never did it again. It pisses me off thinking i spent all that money when all I had to do was switch the cable connectors.

Oh yea, my old '86 Trans Am wouldn't start right after I bought it. It would crank and crank but nothing. I finally figured out that it wasn't getting fuel. Had gas I thought, so I changed the fuel pump. Again, no dice. Get frustrated, none of the guages in the car worked, so I decided to put gas in it, but like i said i swore there was some in there. Poured it in, fired right up. Big DOH from me there.

Luckly I no longer own ethier of these cars
