came to a realization today...need some pennies from u guys

I realized today that i dont have to time or the skill level to put a cam and redo the top end of my motor....i want a 12 second car...right now mine runs a 14.35 @99mph...what do yall think i otta do....i need to get my computer tuned i know that but i want to do a few mods before i send it off...by the way does ne one know about how long it takes to have that kind of stuff done?...i would like to get some headers...i like the LTs w/ ORYP where's the cheapest and best place to get em...i found em for about 600 in summit...i would like to get ceramic coated but i dont think i can afford it....should i go with LTs or try to get some gears and a CAI? anyone wanna sell their headers and ORYP for a good price? am i on the right path or should i just save up for a long time and bite the bullet and go for it all?

Jet hot longtubes, jethot coated for $560 shipped, gotta call or email jethot.

some 1.6 rockers would help if you have the knowhow to install them.

on top of that you are going to pay up the *** to get heads/cam installed, doesnt take all that long if you know how to do it though.

Id suggest some n2o in your situation, normally i wouldnt, but if you want a 12sec car thats the easiest way to get there with some traction.

For one thing you don't need to get your car tuned with what you have. After the cam install then you'll have to, so that can wait. I would get the Jet Hots also if you dont have any clearance issues.

Check my sig below. Until Nov 03 I had a relatively stock car with only a CAI and catbacks. I did all that in a matter of 3 months with the help of a friend. I had virtually no experience on cars aside from plugs, oil and water pump change. But I always believed you can do anything you put your mind to. Just do a hell of a lot of research and reading and have these great fellas on this board help you out. DO IT YOURSELF. A cam change is way easier than an engine build up.

first there are plenty of people running 150 shots on bone stock bottom ends no problem, racinlt1 runs a 11.020 on a stock longblock.

second that is stock programming, im guessing you have an A4, and it also did not come with Z rated tires. if you want to reprogram cuz of that go ahead, but there is nothing wrong with the programming itself

read the third post down

and trapping 99mph but only pulling 14.3...i'd say you need traction.

so first off is going to be some basic suspension mods and some drag radials. i'd suggest a poly torque arm mount, and BMR lower control arms. and Nitto 245 drag radials.

you could also look into AS&m mid lenght headers, not such a hassle with the offroad pipe, but still good power gains.

roller rockers have proven 15hp on the dyno at the wheels but you have to swap springs too, which can be a bit more difficult than just changing the rockers. you could just go with the 1.5 ratio...but if you're gonna do it may as well go allout with the 1.6ratio

i think you could easily get into the 12's with all the basic bolt ons and good traction.

cai, waterpump, pullies, rocker arms, tuning, headers and good exhaust are your major ones.

others that are questionable for gains but should add up to something:
throttle body, zo6 maf sensor, airfoil

Most folks on here got to where they are mod wise a peice or 2 at a time because they didnt have the money to do everything at once.....you have a goal (get into the 12s) now just make a plan and stick to it. Basic bolt ons and drag radials will get you to your goal. I would do CAI, headers, and a cutout first. MAC shorties will be the best bang for the buck, because youll need to buy/or have fabed a ypipe for the longtubes. Go from there and you will be on you way to 12s. BTW you can get 12s with a 110 trap speed although that limiter is gay on a Z.
